We have Lisa Orr from Texas at Sheridan for the next couple of days. She
thought she was coming to do a workshop in a church basement. Sheridan is
the second biggest art school in North America, third biggest in the world.
This includes of course graphic arts, animation, photography as well as fine
craft.
I have gotten more outta Lisa in a day than I have out of any workshop I've
ever attended. This is like watching a kid manipulate clay and have fun. I
came home from Japan thinking I was tight and now seeing her i feel like I
need an enemoma really badly.
I wore my new Texan clay festival t-shirt that Yunkyard Dawg sent me to
surprise her. she said that she thinks "David is a real doll" She thinks
colour sells- her and David agree on that and that David shakes his head at
a $40 mug. She wholesales, David doesn't. I reminded her that he doesn't
pack and ship and so his $18 mug probably has more profit in it.
Next week Jack Troy is rolling in to town. What a place to go to school.
cheers,
Tony

Hey Tony:

Stop making me feel bad about beeing too old, too poor, and too far away to
attend Sheridan. It is the duty of some of us to swell the ranks of the
non-admitted. Alas, not everyone can attend Sheridan.

However, Texas had a splendid visit from another clay maestro, Richard
Aerni. He came to Baylor University to put on an all day
demonstration/talk. It seems the clay gods are spreading the good stuff
around these days.

Guess we have to build our classroom however we can. 600 more miles on the
F-150. Worth every inch.
