on 10/29/04 I asked for anyone on Clayart to "share with me your experience
firing cone 7 reduction in a gas kiln"
No answers yet; would still like to hear from any of you on this subject.

Thanks.

Marv,
I fire a 20cu.ft. Alpine updraft to cone six with light reduction, but
I've fired forced draft Alpines a lot also, what do you want to know?

Hello Marv,

in 1968 at the pottery school I attended in Quebec City we
started firing C/4 the first year, then the second year we fired
C/7 with excellent results.

The firing protocol was the same as for C/9 except we stopped
at C/7 with a final reduction period followed by reoxydation as
at C/9.

Hi Eduoard:
Many thanks for your prompt reply; those procedures are in line what I have
gleaned from reading my various references.
I'll be trying that soon.
Again,

many thanks.

Marvin

Hi Mike:
I'm mostly concerned with how this clay body, which works well for me both in
Raku and Cone 7 electric kiln oxidation firings but at cone 10/gas, did not
do well. I'm hoping that just because this cone 7 will be with gas/reductions
the results will also be good.
We'll see; as they say, "it's only clay"!

Thanks for any comments you may have.

Marvin.

Try adding the temperature of cone 7 in Celsius and Fahrenheit,
Marvin. That may be of help for those who do not use cones?

Sincerely
