One Thin Wall: A Workshop with Beth Cavener Stichter
Sat & Sun, Jan. 8-9, 10-4pm

Beth Cavener Stichter is known for her dynamic, emotionally charged =
animal
and human figures. This two day workshop is intended to give =
participants a
glimpse of how one can tackle elements of gesture and expression with =
subtle
shifts in line and form. Through demonstration and slides she will cover =
a
range of practical technical information about working in clay as well =
as
initiate discussion on how we transfer ideas and meaning visually. Her
unusual method of working is accessible to interested individuals at =
every
level: working with a solid mass of clay and then hollowing each part of =
the
sculpture down to the skin.=20

Beth is currently a studio artist with her MFA from Ohio State =
University.
Her work is exhibited nationally, and this past year she was the =
recipient
of Emerging Artist Fellowship from the American Craft Council

A 5-Day Workshop with Peter Beasecker
Friday, January 14th to Tuesday, January 18th, 10am - 4pm

This five day hands-on workshop will focus on the dynamics of generating =
and
nurturing creative ideas. Demonstrations, slide lectures, class =
exercises
and discussions will serve to build upon your knowledge of technical and
contemporary assumptions in making pottery. Emphasis will be placed on
making this knowledge personal rather than producing a great quantity of
work. The workshop will be using porcelain or a light high-fire =
stoneware
clay body. A range of altering techniques will be covered, both on and =
off
the wheel. Special attention will be given to pouring pots. =
Additionally,
there will be a daily lecture on raw materials to provide a broad =
overview
of this part of our studio activities. Open to intermediate and advanced
throwers. 25 lbs of clay and bisque firing included.=20

Peter Beasecker is a studio artist and Associate Professor of Art at the
