I'm using it for stoneware. I'm working on a slightly translucent white
stoneware slip.

thanks,

I've been looking for the whitest firing ball clay, I've found lots of
stuff that says Tenn. ball #10 is. But also have read elswhere that there
are others that are whiter, I cannot recall the names. Does anyone know
otherwise?

would love to hear what's true

Thanks one million

C-1 is the whitest I've seen. It looks more like kaolin in my bar test.
It's higher in silica than most ball clays, and not everyone carries it,
sorry to say.

I am a big fan of S.G.P. Ball clay. It is much whiter than OM#4 and
makes a beautiful terra sig. I have used it successfully in clay
bodies, engobes, and glazes. It is distributed by KT Clays, the same
folks who distribute OM#4.

What are you using the ball clay for-clay, slip, or glaze?

Of the ball clays I have tested, Tennessee #1 is the whitest at cone 10R.
I have tested only the ones my supplier carries - about 5 different
ones, but all from the KT Clay Company.

I've tested every ball clay I can find in the U.S.
H.C. Spinks (HCS) #5 and Old Hickory #5 are the whitest burning ball clays I have found.
