HI,
I live about 1/2 mile from LONGS DRUG store. They had 4 large x-mas
trees all decorated before Halloween! Now, all the ribbons, & paper are
up before Thanksgiving! About a week before halloween they had about 20
hay bales delivered and they are still there, growing grass on top now,
still don't know what they were for. Speaking of songs, I've been
looking for this one for yrs. ..... no luck. In the beginning of the
movie "Prizzi's Honor" ( can't figure out the correct spelling on the
name , sorry ) with Jack Nicholson. They are in a church and a woman is
singing "Ave Maria"., best version I 'v ever heard, anybody no her
name?? Thanks Mike Gordon

I see in the IMDB that there is a credit for an Alexandra Ivanoff as
Soprano Soloist in Church. Don't know if she does the actual singing -
couldn't find a credit listing for that. That sort of info is usually
tucked away somewhere near the end of the onscreen credits. You would
need to rent it and freeze frame it to read them.
Google away!!

My day job is in advertising for a large retail grocery chain.
Christmas begins for us sometime after July 4th, when some of the first
holiday product samples start trickling in. I think for our buying
dept. it is much much earlier.
One thing though, this year I have been more impressed with the quality
of the Chinese manufactured ceramic figurines than past years. I don't
know if that means they are generally getting better or if the buyers
have upscaled their purchasing. And yes, I checked all the holiday
themed general merchandise and I didn't find one thing that was not
made in China.

At present I don't make any specific holiday themed clay things. I'm
curious how many people out there do? And how are your sales on these
items. Naturally they are going to probably be seasonal, but I am just
curious.

Mike -

I don't know if you remember answering my questions a few months back about jobs
in the Bay area. I am moving to Martinez in less than a month now. Leaving RI on
the 18th of December. Still haven't found a ceramics lab tech job out there.
Apparently, I just missed a posting at Marin College for one. Oh well, I guess it will
be easier once I get out there, or I hope it will be easier. At least I have my portfolio
for grad school done...finally!

I did find you some more info on Alexandra Ivanoff at this link:
http://www.americanbach.org/Artists/IvanoffAlexandra.htm

Hope that helps.

Christmas has been in the stores here since right before Halloween. It was almost
70 degrees here on Halloween (a rarity in New England)...does that make me feel
like Christmas?? It just makes me realize how not ready I am for the holidays this
year, how much shopping I have to do, how much packing I have to do before
Christmas this year, and the fact that I will have had an early Christmas here with my
family, moved to California, and then headed up to Oregon for Christmas with the in-
laws before the Christmas is even over.

And yes, there was a store here that had a scarecrow with hay bales outside and a
santa and Christmas Tree right next to it...that was right after Halloween. Talk about
confusion for my 3 year old daughter who kept asking me why the scarecrow was
"friends with Santa"

Looking forward to being in CA,
