"Throwing Large" was discussed at length a few weeks ago, and I just came
upon this beautifully photographed demo sequence by John Dellow (while
looking for his dipping tool pix).
Go here:
http://www.welcome.to/jkdellow
Click on "Demo," and scroll down to "Myself joining and throwing a 24" jar"
The second photo in that sequence shows the "trick" to doing it.
John is not "the flower pot man"--he is "the FLOWER POT man!" :-)

I got a couple of pop-ups when I entered his sight, but no other
issues. Perhaps because I use a Mac?

I had the same experience. When I went to this site after it opened my
computer locked completely (every thing locked up)
I had to do the same exit you did just shut every thing down.
Ran a virus scan this morning and there were two that had been found. Don't
know if they came from this site or not.

I get a few errors as the site loads, then I get de-bug errors when my mouse
goes over the "ribs" button, but other than that the site seems to work ok
and I scanned my computer with updated virus scan and found nothing.

Dear Carl,
Well, I got into this site (http://www.welcome.to/jkdellow) and saw
the first frame. Then everything started to go pear shaped and new
pages flowed onto the screen, including wallpaper and blank things.
Then it really got nasty as the pointer locked and nothing would
delete or exit. Could not open Start to close down so I just threw the
towel in and hit the Big Off Button on the black box.
Woke the computer up this morning. Had the line of Yellow Peril
warning me our hard disc might be corrupted then ran Virus Scan.
Nothing to report
So I suggest people be circumspect when they try to access John
Dellow's web page.
Best regards
Ivor Lewis.

I had absolutely no trouble John. Folks that did have trouble
probably need to upgrade their browsers (I am guessing that the person
who found a virus on their computer also needs to scan for Spyware that
may be causing browser problems I use Spybot and AdAware.) I also
use the Firefox browser and it gives you the choice to view pop-up or
block them.
It is a great website John. Thanks so much for sharing the
designs of your ribs, throwing sticks and glaze dippers! Your fellow
students are lucky to have you around to learn from.

Hi John,
I did try to go to your website several times, but could not access your
rib section. I just kept getting some domaine search website and all sort=
s
of weird screens, so finally gave up. I did not have any personal compute=
r
problems as the result of accessing your site.
All the best.

I have disabled my web site just in case. Will do a virus check over the weekend.

Geez Louise! I'm very sorry to hear that my Good-Intentioned
recommendation of John Dellow's site has proven the undoing for several of
you folks! I had no problem with it myself using Internet Explorer version
6 under Windows XP.
I see that there are pop-ups on John's site, but don't you guys use a
pop-up blocker? Google gives one for free (and there are many other
sources of free ones). I've been away for 5 days, but I see that if John
did disable his site, it is back up now and is still working fine for me,
anyway.

I am back on line after downloading the latest virus updates from
"Symantec" and doing a
complete check on my system . No problems, and also deleted and
uploaded all my page. I know there are some sloppy coding errors , but
Hay I wrote it 8 years ago . The bright side of this exercise is that I
will tidy it up over the coming holidays .
I did not realise that my free site had a limit to the traffic and
when that limit is reached it is stopped for one hour.
By the way until I down loaded the os2 update for Win XP I too had
lock up problems with my mouse at times. This appears to have been a
conflict with the mouse driver and my nvidia graphics card driver . No
problem now .
I also use Mozilla Firefox as a browser.
I think I will nominate Ivar for "Drama Queen of the Year " :).
