Subject: melt down

Carleen..:-)
Remove all lava and hope that you can do so without demolishing the brick
and elements.....easier said than done, especially in a hobby kiln. Costly
too....if the melt down is really, really bad you may have to purchase a new
kiln. As to cause? A bunch of possibilities: Kilnsitter out of adjustment,
blow up in the kiln that obstructed the KSTA, etc. etc. Hit my web site
under Kiln repair....
http://www.donkerstudio.org you might find some answers there. You can
always E mail me and I'll help you out if I can.
