I'm not following Clayart too closely lately so shoot me if someone else
has already mentioned this.

Not many people think of this but kilns get hot (duh) and computers don't
like hot BUT most computer controllers are mounted right on the side of the
hot kiln. It makes sense that if you can get the controler off the side of
the kiln and mounted on the wall away from the heat source, you'll be doing
your controller a big favor and ensuring it's long life.

"To announce that there must be no criticism of the president, or that
we are to stand by the president, right or wrong, is not only
unpatriotic and servile, but is morally treasonable to the American
public." --U.S. President (and Nobel Peace Prize winner) Theodore
Roosevelt.

My retro fit controller mounts on the wall away from the kiln. The one
that came with another new kiln
is mounted on the kiln but has been firing just fine. Both are Barlett
controllers.
