Hi again everyone,=20
Back for more thoughts...
My main kiln is a 24" hex kiln converted to LPG updraft with a 2 burner =
conversion kit in the bottom.
Flue is 4" x 4" square and I usually put 3 courses of brick up as the =
chimney. Works pretty good and I can get a pretty good bend in a ^10 =
witness cone.
But I have been reading a little of "The Kiln Book" by Frederick Olsen, =
and it got me wondering.
Would there be any advantage to my creating a domed lid from ceramic =
fiber and wire to replace the kiln's current flat lid? Would my firings =
be any more effecient or even? Would reduction and oxidation be any =
easier to control?
I'm really just on a learning curve here and was just curious as to what =
you all might see as advantages or disadvantages of this idea....
Anyone have any thoughts or experience?
Thanks!
