earthenware firing (edouard bastarache )

Edouard,

I am not sure I understand what you did. Are you saying that you
single fired the pots? I did know of one studio near Florence that
single fire their maiolica, and the results were beautiful and looked
nothing like other maiolica. The glaze did not craze either, although
my attempt at the same process produced bad results in all respects
(including crazing). That studio eventually did changed to more
standard proceedures, because the amount of loss in every firing was
quite high. A typical firing of maiolica, using normal methods, will
give 98-100% good results. When you consider that hours of work goes
into many maiolica pots, it is natural to want to keep losses very
low.

Malcom,

I meant (barrier language) that I bisque-fired my C/04 pots
with my C/9-10 at C/08
Then I fired my C/04 glazes at C/04 on 2 types of clays, 1 commercially
blended and 1 dug up on the piece of land where our gas kiln is
located in the countryside. This clay is a remnant of the prehistoric
Sea of Champlain that covered the low lands of Quebec.

Plus, I fired my C/04 kaki glaze at C/9-10 with excellent results,
a real long range one.
