2 questions....

I have a Cress FX 23. Recently I've noticed that it is cooling very fast.
Normally a C6 firing takes about 10-12 hours to cool but the last few
firings it cooled in about 6 hours.

The bottom shelf is cracked abit....do you all think heat is escaping here?

Also if I want to insulate it....is it possible to just drape ceramic fiber
over it like a blanket as long as the peep hole is open and free?

ps

I was experimenting with the Redart Licorice recipe...it turned out a
smooth glossy black, no texture...am thinking the fast cool didn't allow tea
dust to appear--but maybe it's an oxidation problem rather than cooling.
