Hi All- I never considered anything I use in the studio weird until the
other day. We had a group of graduate students (education majors) on a tour
and they were giggling at my slip trail bottles. I thought that everyone
used tint & toner (hair color ) bottles from Clairol to slip trail.... :-)
I love them because they area soft plastic and the tops are removable for
filling with engobes/slips. I put a brass safety pin in the hole in the top
to delay the drying out process and it helps keep the spout clear of dried
materials.I also use a bamboo flat spoon for making sushi to paddle some of
my sculptured work into shape. I had a teacher who always said "Let them
know you've been there, but don't let them know with what!" so I use lots of
household things in the studio for claywork.
I hope everyone has happy holiday's!

banana bread holds up!

Oh Dear,
This post just reminded me of how I got my favorite slip trail bottle:
a "peri bottle" I got in the hospital after the birth of my now 20 yr
old son. Moms will know all about this. Guys: never mind..... ;-)

People giggle at my toilet brushes. I have to assure them that they're
bought new. Nothing better for getting settled glaze off the bottom of a
bucket. Just wish I could fit one in my drill (stick isn't long enough and
too flexible).
