Further to my last post on this subject....
I should have also mentioned that on the same site:
http://www.imaging-resource.com/
there's another great feature - "Dave's Picks" which you get to via a link
in the left hand column under Digital Cameras. Not only has he (whoever Dave
is) written his own excellent reviews, he's done extensive image testing of
each camera using the same deliberately chosen difficult subject, and
presents and explains the results.
When you get to his index page, ignore the "cameras most popular with our
readers" section, but choose to narrow Dave's picks either by your
photographic purpose, resolution size, or price range. Then, when you get
to that page, again ignore the "cameras most popular with our readers" and
scroll all the way down to Dave's own picks. At the top of each camera's
summary description is a link to the "Images".
Although I said I'd decided on the Canon S70, Carol's post peaked my
interest in the Olympus C7000. It turns out, seeing & reading Dave's image
tests, that good though the Canon S70 is at color accuracy, the Olympus
C7000 is quite a bit better and has much more control of the range. Good to
know if a major use is to photograph your own work.
Diane, eager to go digital and hoping my trusty old Canon A1 isn't going to
be too jealous.
