Fonda-
When you do African violet pots, glaze the entire outside and inside of the cache pot(the pot that holds the water). On the inside pot which holds the african violets, DO NOT GLAZE THE LOWER THIRD OF THE INSIDE AND OUTSIDE OF THE POT. Depending on the size of the pots, because I have small and large, on the large it runs about 1 1/2 to 2 inches and that is why I said the lower third. This is so that the plant can absorb the water and keep moist but will not over waterlog the plant. I have made them and the pots that grew the monsterest plants were the ones using that formula-the worst were the ones who I glazed only the lip/border on the inside pot. They tended to have problems with fungus and rot. Over my kitchen sink are half a dozen plants and in art studio there are about that many. So I can tell when the pot works and when it is a chunker.
