belts needed for 1973 brent model c

updated thu 23 dec 04

Hi June,

I would imagine, such a Belt should be available from any
commercial Bearing (or, Bearing, Belt, Link-Chain and
Pulley) Supply House...

If you can, just bring your example to one of them, and have
them match it from stock.

It is highly unlikely that Brent ever made the Belts used on
their Wheels, but rather, elected a Belt and Pully
combination from stock components available in general
industrial merchandise.

I have been told by my local supplier that Brent doesn't make the belt/s for my Brent Model C
wheel anymore. Does anyone know the best person in the world to talk to about this to see if they
don't have a belt or two around somewhere? I bought the wheel in 1973. If you can help me, I
would really appreciate it. My wheel has two pulleys and two skinny belts. Usually one belt falls
off early on, and it works fine with one. Darn, I wish I knew where I put the one that fell off all
those year ago! Any ideas would be greatly appreciated on how to get the wheel back to working.

PS- I have a scan/image of the belt if it would help. But, I see we can't include attachments here
on the claylist.

When I had to replace the belt in my wheel <(circa 1974) a couple of years
ago
i think my dad got a Belt(what he called a pulley) from an an automotive
supply place.

I am sorry I can't give you more information because he passed away and I
did not inherit his mechanical aptitude, nor did I write down all of the
wise things he knew.

The wheel (touch wood) however is still going strong.

Happy Holidays!

Kathy

The Brent belts were part of a series of belts called "micro v" belts.
Early wheels used single belts in multiples but later change to the j series
that had 4 or 6 ribs on a single backing which overcame the tendency to
"walk" off.
They are still available at Applied Industrial Technologies.
Check the Gates web site: http://www.gates.com/index.cfm?location_id=3107
to see them.

Are you sure it isn't a Brent Model CX? (Not CXC, just CX - it's no
longer made) E-mail me your scan off-list to be sure, but my tech is
pretty certain from your description that what you need is a CX belt.
Retail price is $25.00. Our current sale price is $19.20 and we have
them in stock. You can order it through this link if you want:

The belts for the early Brent C is a v groove and I recall they can be found
at automotive supply houses. Bring the old one into the supply house and
they should be able to match it up.
