Hello CLAYART,
As I've said before you have taught me everything about clay and glaze. =
You have also taught me how to take photos. I've invested in the =
background, diffuser, etc. and I'm learning. Now I need some more help.
I'm ready to move from film and invest in a good digital. I will be =
using the camera to photo my pottery, visual references for artwork, as =
well as family. After research and talking to photo stores I'm =
considering the cameras listed. Does anyone use any of these? Any pros =
or cons?
Has any one bought online and had a good experience? I saw Dave H's =
note on . Others??
I'm considering the following cameras:
Olympus C 5060, C 770, C 765, and the C 7000
and
Canon S 60, S 70
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

For Carol and anyone else shopping for a digital camera....
This is a topic that comes up fairly often on Clayart in the past couple
years, and most people who weigh in will do so based on being happy with the
camera they've now got, which may or may not be the best choice for you.
It happens to be a topic that's terrifically well-covered on the internet
and for the best advice, I'd point you and anyone else to the Imaging
Resource website:
http://www.imaging-resource.com/
Not only do they have thorough reviews, they've got a really outstanding
online step-by-step walk-you-through-your-decision-making process Camera
Advisor. On the web page I've cited, in the paragraph of text under
"Digital Cameras and Photography", there's a link to their "Camera Advisor."
Once there, you can opt for the Start From Scratch version (which I did,
even though I thought I had narrowed down my selection) or you can start
with the models you're already considering.
It's quite user friendly but takes a while as they have you answer all sorts
of questions about various things you might want in a camera, explaining the
features and having you rate their importance to you, plus provide your
price range. Then their computer database brain goes to work and provides
recommended camera models ranked by how well they matched your preferences.
You can then select models to have side-by-side comparisons shown, or read
full individual reviews. Using this process, I ended up deciding on the
Canon S70 myself, which did happen to be one that I was originally
considering. But it also turned up some that hadn't even been on my radar
screen like the Pentax Optio 750Z
The website has excellent reviews of scanners and printers as well
(but without that Advisor feature)
Needless to say, I have no stake in or connection with Imaging Resource.

I'm doing the same research, the above is a great website, think it was a
link from another site suggested on clay art..I'm also looking at Oly c8080
and cannon G6 plus maybe some Nikons. From what I've seen the 5060 has
problems mechanically. Friends have the oly 5050 and I was impressed with
their results. Hopefully someone can help us out of our dilemma.

Look at the Nikon D70. I bought one a few months ago and line it.
