kiln? newbie needs help!
You can do reduction in an electric kiln by confining the reduced atmosphere
to a sagger.

Maria,
It is possible to get a reduction effect with some glazes by adding
silicon carbide to the recipe. Results are, however, variable.
You could, for example, take a known transparent glaze and add 2% of red
iron oxide and 1% of fine silicon carbide ('fine' meaning at least 1200
mesh) and fire in your electric kiln to your normal firing cycle.
Obviously in this type of firing it is only the glaze which is reduced,
whereas with Celedons fired in a flame kiln also have a colour response
which comes from iron in the clay body.
