Sheryl,

Something else you can try is an 81A warming filter for your slide film camera. Most good
photography stores carry them. It's possible to get a fairly good colour balance with it on
bright overcast days with most slide films.

>I was having the same problem. Both digital and slide film turned my grey scale backdrop a
bluish cast when shot in front of the open north doors to my studio. All lights were out and
the digital was set for the correct lighting conditions. I solved it by moving to the open east
door. Same cameras, same slide film, same backdrop, same "no lights on". But, now I have a
good black to white balance without blue.

When I built my painting studio last year I gave myself a bank of north
skylights, thinking it would be great light source for shooting pictures of
pots. I guess if I had thought it through I wouldn't have been so shocked
when all my pictures came out blue. Duh! The sky is....blue! Of course
with digital, now, all I have to do is reset the white balance; but as it
turned out the skylights don't make a good light source for photographing
pots. So now I have a completely dark booth and use studio strobes for my
light source...easy peasy.
