seeing red posts that are brown

I was reacting to the fact that the posts had devolved into a discussion of car insurance and
driving. Diversions are great. Have at it.

It makes the admonitions of the moderators to keep it about clay less meaningful when threads like this one, that started out about clay, go on for more than two or three deep.
I was responding to the inconsistency. Clayart is what it is. I like it like it is.

I have asked people to talk to me offline about personal stuff and tried for years to keep it about clay and clay work.

I apologize for making so many personal posts. I can take my own medicine.

I read the seeing red posts because I saw you were in them and I like to read what you say,
even when the topic does not interest me. But even you cannot make car insurance interesting.

I'll just ignore the red posts as I should have in the first place. Thanks for reminding me that
I have been majorly off topic myself.

Elizabeth; It seems to me I have read your going on about your septic

if it is red you are in trouble or you are colour blind. We can all learn

Frankly, I have enjoyed the red posts and i live in a very blue country. .

Elizabeth,

I guess I just like to see posts that are
as full a spectrum as I can perceive.

This may just be my spin but for
me these threads, though attacked as OT,
do evolve and return to being clay related.

For example..... how does colorblindness affect how
a potter's glazes. One potter I know of has his wife
select his palette....... she does not demonstrate an
aesthetic that is appealing to me.
It makes me wonder what his work would look like
were he not color blind and better yet why he doesn't work
in black, white and grays with accents of color.

Insurance, health, world events,
religion and dreaded politics affects my
production, creativity and sometimes
my ability to walk into the studio.
Being human and being an artist, potter,
parent, has blended ...... I no longer feel a distinction.
I am an amalgamation of these
and many more characteristics.
Any one of them has the ability to influence the other.
If my goal is to continually improve why would I refuse
or at least acknowledge discussion of them.
That said I understand the request to keep
politics and religion off the list as they are
such volatile subjects and could cause irreparable damage.
It seems we have not learned for history as
religion and politics continue to be the main reason for wars,
so those we can take off list.
Perhaps one day a true respect and understanding will
allow those issues to be discussed rationally....
but obviously that time is not now.

So apologies for a roundabout way to make my point....
Everything in our environment be they
hurricanes, cars, insurance, health, babies etc.
affect our ability to create and work.

I have been amazed, educated and inspired reading
how people manage to overcome challenges whether they
be s-cracks or Murphy's Law of life!

I love you guys.
Going nomail for a few days but will be back soon.
