Try using MOBILE liquid wax ... there are 2 kinds out on the market and I
have no use for the other kind.... I add food color to the wax and I also
water it down some ... If I remember right when I was in School and we had to
hurry hurry hurry to glaze pots we would dillute the wax 1/2 and 1/2 with
water and it would dry enough to glaze the pot by the time we got back from
lunch.. Now I just add enough to make the ease of application easier and
it usually takes over nite to be useful enough to glaze.. but the wax
keeps its resistance for days the stronger it is.. The more dilluted the less
time you have to glaze.
I guess what I am trying to say is you will dillute the wax depending
on your own personal situation. Try MOBILE .. ps your brush is VIP
also.... I need to find another one myself as the one I use is about 17 yrs
old now and getting long in the tooth so to speak.. I am thinking Squirrel
hair.. I just know that the brush makes a HUGE difference in the ease also..
Cat Jarosz in sunny unseasonably warm NC mountains and very smug
with self as she has been able to work outside grinding all her kiln shelves
smooth of wash and rewashed all 28 of them !!! WHat a job took 2 days
but what glorious weather to do it in.. went from single diget temps
to 65 and sunny in less than a week.. woo hoo spin on head... looking
forward to a Michael Sherrill workshop down near Charlotte in feburary and am
working on guest bathroom now... stayed up till 2 am wall papering it..
getting ready for some brotherly love from NH and SC. next week.. and
HOPE that it is enough to stave off POTTER BURN OUT !!! Got a pot of barley
vegtable left over ham soup going and its gonna be another warm day
though maybe not so sunny.... Maybe me and my Terror oops terrior will go dig
up some trouble in town... woo hoooo too many days off for a
potter makes them act strangely... and YES I FEEL GUILTY but then again I was
