Ya-hoo!!!
I am dancing right now, typing with one hand, while I celebrate. You see,
I find cell phones at pottery workshops extremely rude. I find them rude
in most situations, actually - seldom really needed but often used.
We don't have cell phone service in Maydelle, unless you want to drive
a mile, up to the top of Gent's Mountain (elevation 426 ft.).
We've got nothing against having a tower here - in fact, there is already
an abandoned forest service fire watch tower that would make a fine
cell phone tower.
In 1999, the Maydelle Water Supply Company contracted with a
company that negotiates with phone companies and then places antennae
on top of water towers (for a % of the fee). Unfortunately, the tele-com
bust of 2000 stopped all those deals dead in the tracks.
For travel, I always have a few phone cards in my wallet. They are made
of paper, and are $1 for 20 minutes, at the local Dollar Tree store.
