I would try to stop by the Asakusa district. The temple there is a bit
of old Edo (tokyo) There has been a shrine in this area since about
650 ad according to legend. The Gate to Asakusa is in all of the
guide books. It is the one with the huge lantern. Worth the trip.
Buy some incense and light it and place it in the large brazier and
with both hands pull the smoke over your head - said to cure headaches
and to give a feeling of well being. Say a prayer for the tsunami
victims. There are lots of shops in this area and stalls selling
omiage (o-me-ah-gay) or souvenirs.

Go to the Japan times website :
down toward the bottom is a section with the Ceramic Scene columns by
Robert Yellin a former Clayart contributer and all around nice guy. He
usually highlights some of the many clay exhibitions.

Enjoy, and eat some Udon for me.
