Does anyone on the list have information about the Amaco model HF-105 kiln
manufactured some 30 years ago. Does it contain asbestos in the secondary
or back-up insulation?
I seem to recall this being the case when at the university I attended the
same model kiln was replaced. A local high school here has this model kiln
still in use.

You could ask them.

then click contact us. They give several email addresses.

Dear Mark
I have one in England and it has ceramic fibre around the bricks
cover the edge of the fibre with kiln wash as when you load, you can get it on
your sweater. I bought mine in about 1984.
Best,
D
I bought it, so that I could fire a toilet or sink and it was the only one that
was not expensive in the UK that it would fit in--maybe mine is not a HF-105
but a HF-107 but which ever of those models it is, it is the same build--why
dont you ask Amaco? I am sure they will send you a spec sheet if they are in
the right mood---I tried to order egyptian paste from them for my assistant as
a gift and they tried not to sell it to me saying that it was probably too
expensive to send it to Japan--I said since I was buying it, I would like to
decide if I could afford it or not. They did not respond.
