gold book recommendation

Thanks to everyone who responded to my last question (in
the fall) about books. I'm the librarian for the Triangle
Potters Guild (in North Carolina). A member has asked me to
find a book that discusses using gold leaf and liquid gold
on ceramics and other post-firing enhancements. Is there
one that someone would recommend?

Neal,

Robin Hopper's new book, Making Marks Discovering the Ceramic Surface has an essay
(which I wrote) on the post-firing application of gold leaf. The book also has several
examples of pots that have made use of gold leaf on their surfaces.

I wouldn't bother looking for a specialty ceramics
book. A post-fired finish will not be much different
than on any other surface of similar porosity. Gold
leaf works the same on clay as on paper or wood, paint
works the same as on canvas, etc. There is a lot of
information out there that's never made its way into
ceramics books. Don't limit yourself!
