stable browser.

I don't like to disagree with Bonnie but I must in this situation.
Mozilla is, when compared to the any of the Windows browsers,
practically trouble free. Not only is it far less of a target for the
infernal worms and viri that are floating about the internet (Microsoft
is the biggest fish in the pond so the pasty faced hackers target Mr.
Gates and company) but it is also STABLE. A claim that is difficult to
make about Windows. I am using XP Pro on this machine and was using
Internet Explorer or Netscape as a browser until I saw the light.
I genrally do not have any problems with pop-ups. A problem may
exist in how Firefox is configured if there is a pop up problem. To
check out how things are set up open up your Firefox browser. Move your
cursor to highlight the TOOLS tab....left click on the TOOLS
tab.......scroll down until OPTIONS is highlighted.....left click on
OPTIONS......on the left side of the window that opens up there are five
catagories form which to choose (General, Privacy,Web Features,
Downloads, Advanced).......left click on Web Features.......look at the
top of the window labeled Web Features and you will see a little box
that has "block pop windows".....make sure that the box has a little
check in it. If it doesn't left click on the box and one will
appear...........beneath the box is an white open space inwhich pop ups
from sites that you wish to see need to be placed. There is a tab
beneath to click if you want to use this option.
In the grand scheme of the Internet it is the open source stuff that
originally drove things and thankfully is now becoming available for
those of us who are not computer geeks. Linux is arguable the most
stable of all as far as the operating platforms go but it is not user
friendly. I'm not there yet but plan on being so in the not to far off
future.
Mozilla Firefox and THunderbird were both written by the folks who
used to write the code for Netscape before it was bought out. They
didn't want to work for a corporate daddy so they formed Mozilla. I can
genuinlly recommend both to any and all who are interested.
Hope this helps
