Hi, Been there, done all that. Tramadol, generic form of Ultram, is an opioid.
It may have less problems than Percocet but it does have some of its own
problems.
Look it up in Google, but that information won't diminish your pain.
One method to try is acupuncture, but most insurance companies won't cover it.
And one has to have repeated treatments.
My daughter had brain surgery for a benign tumor last February and has not been
able to go off vicodin and tramadol, though she tried, because of bad headaches.
Nonetheless, she is seeing her internist. I am her mom and have to hold my
advice to a minimum. She has a big job and 3 young kids, one as small as
21 mos.
I am therefore trying to be an understanding mom and keep my tongue at the back
of my mouth when she jokes about "Time for my drugs!" Her husband has bad
headaches
too, but I think his are a remnant from viral meningitis many yrs. ago.
Good luck to both of you.
I am not on pain killers currently; they were urgent after I crumbled my
patella in Sept. 2002.
But I have started acupuncture for osteoarthritis which is pretty severe
despite
what I do for exercise and balance such as Tai Chi.
Over the years, this list has entertained story after story about all kinds
of meds
and treatments. Life goes on with such. I bet many miles of posts are in the
Archives on that subject.
Best. Bacia
I don't know how you are going to get off without some withdrawl problems.
I do know that when on prednizone, I have to taper off over several days
otherwise i can cause some serious problems, even life threatening. My
rhuematologist just put me on a pain killer called tramadol, it's supposed
to be non-narcotic and "reasonably" safe.

from anyone with experience with stopping the use of narcotic pain drugs
like Percocet.
