I received a great package of fond memories from my friend and Clayarter Sam
Hoffman. A very nice woodfired wall vase with Ravenscrag and 20% soda ash
glaze that you would swear was a sexy shino, a box of slides and CD's with
hundreds of pic's of our residency in Japan. I'll cherish the pot and the
memories.
Sam i don't know how you could have been so prolific in the pot making dept.
You took so many fantastic pics. Only one pic was missing- Ryogi wearing a
ball cap of your father's space shuttle mission.
The pics gave me a lump in my throat. Wish it could happen all over again.
It is a time and a group of people I will never forget. What happened to
John Baymore? I figure he must have eaten one too many of those strange raw
creatures or he just plum wore himself out.
It was nice to see all those pots you guys made. Thanks a million Sam.
Ryogi was the nicest person I have ever met in my life. Guys like Sam rub
shoulder to shoulder.
Thanks a million.
cheers,
tony

Reputable reports are that Tony, not wanting the extra work,
sent his multi-millionaire winery owner to John for the 35
accessory pieces to go with the Sour Cherry casseroles.
John proudly accepted the commission for mucho-bucks and
began work immediately. However, after three failures at
getting the reduction right and knowing the deadline was
impossibly close for another try, John threw himself into
the kiln rather than face the client.

I am told the client got the most beautiful Baymore-fired
copper sour cherry colored spittoons imaginable.
