I have been following this thread about safety glasses-all I gotta say-WEAR THEM!!! I should know-found out the hard way-they REALLY WORK!
I was in one of my advanced printmaking classes and was doing a very large woodcut plate, one of five plates. I like to use a Dremel tool to get various textures and one of the bits has a ball on the end of it which does the grinding. They come in two sizes-little ball and big ball (sooo technical). Was working away-had my goggles on. All of the sudden, TINK, ball breaks off the end of the bit and richochets off my goggles! Cut off Dremel and looked at goggles-had left a DEEP crater in the googles and made radial cracks around it-they were no longer usable. If this had been my eyeball, it would have buried in my eye and I would have been blinded.
When I called my hubby that night after school, he said save them! I want them-have to teach a safety class at the plant. It was used as an example of what could happen when you least expect it.
\ I also have a full face safety shield-if I feel I need it-I use it.
I will say it again-WEAR THE GLASSES WHEN USING TOOLS! NO EXCEPTIONS!

On the rest of the journey....
