I haven't ever put paper in the woodkiln, but I do use
heavy catalog, NYTimes magazine, type paper to seal the door after
I've put it up. I dip the paper in fireclay slip and put it
up like wallpaper, overlapping, then covering it thoroughly with an
extra coating of clay. Some flame might exit the very top of the door
near the end of the firing, but the stuff on the front never burns
off. The door doesn't let in any cool air, and I don't have a temp
differential front to back.
cheers
