gas kiln location

Location for my Laguna downdraft kiln has me a bit perplexed. Should I =
build a shelter, we're in cold upstate New York, or put her in our large =
garage. My idea is to mend the cement slab that we use for a pitfiring =
and raku area - originally it was the foundation for a chicken house - =
build a shelter that is basically a roof with supports. We have two =
converted gas/wood kilns that we can fire but keep stored in the barn =
because of snow/ice in the winter. =20

The gas kiln will take 10 - 12 hours to fire, our house is about fifty =
feet from the cement slab so I won't have to be out in the weather =
constantly with the kiln. She'll be coming home in April so any advice =
would be appreciated.

Have you checked how a kiln attached to the house would affect your
insurance? My insurance company wanted commercial(expensive) insurance
rates on our whole house if we attached the kiln shed . There was a
minimum distance required to keep the house at residential rates...

Moving to Lookout Mountain and building my Pottery from ground up i was able
to build my gas kiln room across my driveway. When the weather is nice i spray
my ash glazes in the driveway. I set up a temporary table with my water ,
sprayers , turntable and place for pots on boards.. Its between the gas kiln room
and the Pottery. It works for me..
I really like having my kiln room set apart from the rest of the pottery. My
electric kilns are in a room attached to the pottery. I use them for bisque,
There are 2 windows and also the walls let air in,, also mice.. Ill fix it one
day. I have plenty of space between the kilns and the walls. Also i have the
kiln i use mostly hard wired to the outlet, no plug.
I also have my chemicals in the electric kiln room with my scale ,,
