Surfing with Helen Bates [Fwd: POTTERY WORK in GRENADA]

Hi all,

I'm passing this on in case it challenges someone, Canadian or
otherwise, to respond to this appeal for any potters who would like to
spend some time working in Grenada.

The originator of the request for help is N. Stuart Black , who
recently did a feasibility study regarding "Community Tourism and
Crafts" for the Caribbean island of Grenada.

Apparently one of the projects that he was involved in was a pottery
business meant to employ local people, and evidently he still has some
involvement there, hence his letter to Fusion: The Ontario Clay and
Glass Association membership.

His name is N. Stuart Black, of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada
Email: nstuartblack@yahoo.com (From Stuart's letter to Fusion)
Web: http://stuartblack.org/

Note: Although his web site shows an alternate email address, I'd go
with this one: mailto:nstuartblack@yahoo.com as it is most current.

CV relating to Grenada:
* Community Tourism and Crafts - feasibility study, Grenada (Caribbean
Development Bank (CDB), 2002-2003) (most recent project)

Here's what he wrote to Fusion's email list:

> hurricane relief work - higher paid jobs in the construction
> industry financed by the international donor community.

Regards,

Helen

PS:
Grenada is not rich in any way, including internet sites, but I did
find one very nice pot by a gentleman whose professional name is
"Fabulous G." and who is a Disc Jockey as well as a potter and was
Grenada DJ Champion in 1991. He is now with the group "Trinity Sound",
based in Stockholm, Sweden:

Hi, All:

Following the devastation of Hurricane Ivan, one of the consequences
has
been a migration of the work force into hurricane relief work - higher
paid jobs in the construction industry financed by the international
donor community.

As a result, local businesses that are attempting to get back on their
feet are having a hard time attracting their former employees back into

their old jobs.

Please pass this request on to anyone who may be interested in doing
some pottery work in Grenada, and have them contact me at
nstuartblack@yahoo.com."
