Hi Kathy,
Thanks for your mentions here which give some perspective to
an otherwise topical and emotional subject.
Really, maybe, Microsoft, should encourage just such
competitions among talented amateurs, kinda like Comic Books
or Magazines used to have that page in the back for one to
Draw 'Tippy' the Turtle, where you could send it in to
maybe win an Art Scholarship...if it was good-enuf.
I do not know how 'hard' it is to write a 'virus' or 'worm',
but, a friend of mine here, when I asked him, said that (
for him, say, for my friend I mean) it would be very easy to
do. We talked about this some and he gve me to understand
that far FAR 'worse' things could readily be made than those
that have been. But that the people with that level of
skill, seem also to posess a sense of fair play in which
they would not do such a thing...sorta like Chemists, who
posess the knowledge to make terrible chemicals and expose
people to them, would not
tend to do so (unless in employ of some parts of the
government or military or corporations maybe, but I am being
redundant ) .
Maybe most people, (me for example) do not know how to think
about Microsoft, because we do not know enough about it from
any sort of points of view, but that of a user of the
product, who maybe, sort of, know more-or-less how to
stumble through only some things...with it...
Phil
