Hi Alisa,

Did you recognize this base? It is the same as Touchtone Red (w/o the iron).
You tested this base with other oxides and reported to Clayart on 9/8/02
I know this because I found your post and printed it yesterday for reference
as I was mixing a new batch of this base. I see it has acquired another new
name, by virtue of slightly altered colorants.

I would love to know the actual original name of this glaze, which I really
like. It was given to me as Touchtone Red. I refer to it as "Touchtone
Base, Var. A,B, etc" when I use other colorants. But I suspect the
Touchtone name isn't original either.

Happy testing,

kiln-

Hi Ann,
I did not recognize this glaze off the bat as Touchtone Red. I do,
however, remember testing the Touchtone Glazes, including colorants for a
medium green semi gloss with cornflower blue crystals. Same as Rita's
colorants, except instead for 1% Rutile, the Touchtone version called for
5% Rutile.

As we see again, like Jeannie's Purple, it the same glaze, with just the
colorants changed, and the ownership is changed.

I do not know where the Touchtone glazes originated. I must have been
given the recipe by you.

Remember Ron said that without the RIO, the expansion is low and could be
attacked by dishwasher soap.

Ann,

Touchtone Red and Randy's Red are the same recipe. Having said that, I'm not
sure which came first, the chicken or the egg.
