I don't remember who originally asked for a yellow raku glaze but I
did not respond because they did not want to use a Vanadium Stain as a
colorant (I have a wonderful yellow raku glaze that I got out of
Branfams book on raku...the oxide is vanadium though.) This was probably
due to the inherent health issues associated with the use of vanadium.
Keeping this in mind it is of great importance to note that if anyone
decides to use Ferric Chloride they need to take the necessary
precuations, demos by some famous and charismatic raku potters not
withstanding.
One of the uses of Ferric Chloride is to ETCH into copper plates.
The electronics industry uses it. Think about this and the "etching"
that will occur in the soft tissue of your throat and lungs if you
inhale the stuff. Wear a resperator. Stand down wind. Be carfeful. It's
really cool stuff but dangerous.
Hope this helps
