sermon...one more source
Maura, if someone is advising another potter about toxicity concerns
with regard to Barium Carbonate it is not a sermon. Believe me, I can go
on at length about things relating to safety and health in a sermon like
manner. It's kinda funny when folks eyes start to glaze over..LOL
The question about a supply source of Barium Carbonate indicates
that you may not have much experience with the material. It is a common
courtesy to inform folks of potential dangers. I think folks have been
gently suggesting that, if you are not familiar with them, take a look
at potential health concerns. They have not been giving sermons.
I don't know where you are located, but our local ceramics store
sells Barium Carbonate. Here's the link http://www.ceramicstoreinc.com/
Tom, the proprietor, is someone with whom I have been doing business
for the past fifteen years. They have only recently gone to the web. His
prices are quite competitive. I used the Ceramics Store as a material
source when I was "down south" as I like to say (Bolivia), because he
was still less expensive than Miami Clay or any of the folks on the East
Coast even after I had to pay an extra shipping cost from Houston to
Miami. Don't know what the varying prices for materials are today. That
was seven years ago. The store is only 1/2 mile from my house so the
convience factor is worth a bundle.Just do a quick search at the various
links/compare the prices/figure in the shipping cost and you have your
winner if you are primarily concerned with the price.
Hope this helps
