reception/slides

Fee: $145.00
Join us as we welcome Oregon potter Hank Murrow as he demonstrates his =
unique methods of working on and off the wheel. While most of his =
work begins on the wheel he has developed some interesting ways of =
working with clay to extend the form vocabulary by employing tools =
he has specially designed . Displacement trimming, =
soft-faceting and displacement forming are among some of the =
tricks he will reveal that simplify the making of elaborate =
forms. He will also show how to make dies for the extruder =
and demonstrate their utility in creating forms far removed from wheel =
work. Sunday morning will afford an opportunity for hands- on work =
with tools of his design. Most of his work is made to serve =
food or flowers at the table, and participants will serve the final =
potluck Sunday afternoon in his wares to reveal how they are =
completed by their contents.
Hank Murrow has been working with clay for more than 46 =
years. He earned a BS and MFA degree in ceramics and =
taught with George Kokis at Ohio University and Brad Reed at Anderson =
Ranch. Since 1974 he has lived in Eugene, Oregon as a studio =
artist and divides his time between developing kiln designs and creating =
work "to serve at the table for family and friends". He =
shows in galleries nationwide and teaches workshops throughout the =
US.
