Whenever you see me in the Clayart Room at NCECA
please feel free to ask any business / marketing questions
you might have.

I love this topic and would be happy to advise or refer you
to another source of info if applicable.

Chris Campbell - in North Carolina - see you all in the bar Tuesday night !!

Chris, why not plan a specific time in the room to have a session on
business practices? I don't think I"m the only one here who is hoping for
various sessions of this sort in the Clayart room - things that practical
potters need, as opposed or in addition to, the academic type stuff offered
by NCECA. I only know about 3 other session things being scheduled in the
room at this point (not counting the mug exchange of course): Russel's
photography session, the Potter's Council "getting published" session, and I
think Gregg is going to do a meeting for folks interested in hosting a
Regional Workshop. Last year, Billie did a short slide presentation about
the Belize program. I think what you have to offer would be a welcome
addition to the "agenda".

Well, anyone who has heard me talk will tell you all
there is nothing I like discussing more than marketing
strategies for pottery.

I love helping newbies navigate the perilous waters of
retail and wholesale. There are a ton of pitfalls that
can be avoided by simply learning some basic rules.

BUT ... BUT .... BUT ....

I also love the Clayart Room as a place to go when you
need to rest or refresh or just chat with fellow potters.
It was the only place I knew anyone at NCECA.

Those orange dots on the name tags were beacons of friendship !!

I can honestly say I would never have had the nerve to attend distant
NCECAs if the Clayart Room was not there.

So ... I am somewhat opposed to holding a ton of lectures or activities in
the Clayart Room ... I don't want to feel there is always something
going on there so I have to either be quiet and listen or go elsewhere to chat.

There is a fine balance and if we go over it,
we will destroy the fabulous nurturing social nature of the room.

So, for now, I am more comfortable saying ...

Whenever you see me in the Clayart Room feel free to approach me
and ask me any questions.

I am a night owl, so don't look for me at breakfast time.

Chris Campbell - in North Carolina - counting down the days .... lurkers
will be outted and you'll never go back into hiding!!

As a potter just starting to turn pro, I sure would support the idea.

NCECA calls for people to lead special topic/break-out groups every
year. It's too late for this year, but it would be great to see someone
propose to do this business discussion for Portland next year. This
discussion would extend to all NCECA members and perhaps also bring some
new people into the ClayArt list who were unaware of it previously
(could that be?) as a result of some very fine discussion leaders and a
lot of friendly ClayArt folks.

Linda, you'd be surprised how many potters have never heard of Clayart. I
know there are many and STILL I am just amazed that people are missing out
on this great group.
