A new clay center has opened up on the west side of Olympia, Washington.
It is called The Clay Zone and it offers a variety of classes in
wheelthrowing, handbuilding and sculpture, as well as open studio use and
electric, gas reduction, and raku firings. I am not affiliated with it
but have visited it and was impressed with the spaciousness, cleanliness,
ambiance, and variety of equipment including 9 or so electric wheels of
various makes, electric and gas kilns, slab roller, extruder, storage
shelves, work tables, and a pleasant break room with refrigerator, coffee
maker, and Ceramics Monthly magazines. I'm sure there's more that I'm
forgetting to mention or don't know. If you'd like to check it out,
please visit this site: www.theclayzone.com , where more information and
contact info is available.
