colouring porcelain bodies and 'fake' copper reds

Hello everyone,

two questions:

1. I have a student who is using a porcelain casting body at cone 9 ox. She
wants to colour it blues/greens/earth colours but so far has found she has
lost the translucency by doing this. Has anyone out there managed to colour
porcelain and still keep its translucency (at cone 9)? Any suggestions for %
oxides etc would be helpful.

2. I am trying to find a reliable 'fake' copper red glaze to be fired to
cone 9 ox. The glazes I've tried so far are red/pink in patches rather than
a uniform(ish) red. Does anyone have any good recipes. I am working in
Britain so please could you put types of frit rather than manufacturers frit
numbers!

Thanks, Kate
