damaged electronic controllers

Hi All,
AT my college we had a large electrical short/
flashover in the underground service to the ceramics
lab.
It was during an unoccupied time and several
computers,
microwave ovens, etc. were killed. Unfortunately, the
electronic controller on the skutt electric went dark,
and fuse was OK, power now restored, but no joy with
the
unit. Won't respond to any switch selection. No
display.

Question: Is there an internal fuse? We have a person
who is an electronic technician ( navy trrained) that
can
open it up (out of warranty) and check if anyone
knows.
Otherwise is it more economical to repair or
repurchase
as no one knows how extensive the damage may be?
Repair
through Skutt?

Second sad problem. Our alpine gas kiln has an
electronic limit/temperature digital display. It now
starts are 3455 degrees and cycles down to zero and
back up again, over and over. The limit is tripped
each
time so the gas turns off. Same quesion as above.
Except also ...Is there a way to temporarily make it
manual? This is our only reduction kiln :(

Thanks,

Jim Pendley

Jim, the problem with your controller may be only a burned out transformer.
If the controller board is fried, you could have it rebuilt by Bartlett
Instruments (319-372-8366).
