Hi, everyone.

For all of you staying in hotels at NCECA....

here's a way to help the neediest ... with no money and no clay.

i have a tiny charity in rochester, ny, called sample soap.

for 15 years, we've collected toiletries for our neediest citizens....
rape victims, aids shut ins, runaway youth, battered women, migrant
workers, families in transition and the truly homeless.

we never ask for money, just the toiletries you don't want.

and so....

at nceca, if there are hotel toiletries you aren't using.... please
bring them to the clayart room.

i'll have a plastic bucket marked "sample soap", starting wednesday
night... just drop them in.

and... i've found that it you remove the toiletries from your bathroom
each day, they are often replaced ;-)

of course, if you want to take your toiletries home for your own
community, that's great, too.

if you want more info on sample soap:

www.samplesoap.org

and thanks for considering this!

The request to dontate the unused toiletries from the Hotel always
brings up an interesting question of ethics when I hear it.

When you go to your Claybuds home, would you take the little round,
lavender scented, Lisa Skeen soap to dontate to the needy? If not, then
why is it suddenly the right thing to do when the toiletries come from a
faceless corporation rather than the friend you know?
