A friend of mine is relocating to Mcminnville which is 1hr south of
Portland, Oregon. She's looking for a place to learn and throw pottery with all eqiupment and firing capabilities. She was enrolled here at a local community college. Anybody out there that can help her?

You can e-mail me off list and I'll pass the information along to her. She's been commuting back and forth for now and I told her about NCECA going on so there may be a lapse in response time.

Any information will be greatly appreciated.

Kim,
First of all, I'd like to echo your sentiments about Mel's book.
My daughter who lives in Minneapolis drove out to Mel's studio during his holiday show and bought me a copy for a Christmas gift.
Like you, I devoured it, and read it all over again, gleaning lots of great tips and wisdom.

As far as your friend in McMinnville- this place is about an hour from everywhere!
I know that Linfield College is there and that Western Oregon U is in Monmouth.
However, whether one can register for just pottery or not, I'm not sure.

I would highly recommend Multnomah Art Center in Portland.
This is a great place and a wonderful guy- Loren Jones- teaches there. He's very good, knowledgeable and also a positive minded kind of instructor. Nurturing even!
Would be worth the drive..........
