rod on beauty and hunting...

Rod,

What a fine post you sent. Thanks very much for your thoughts.

Recognizing the beauty of the world around us is extremely important, as is
realizing how interconnected everything is. I know this will sound
simplistic to some, but plants are living beings in the same way that
animals and other creatures (ourselves) are too. We are all dependent upon
the other, and it's best to realize that fact. I think that giving
Thanksgiving before eating a meal, whether fish, fowl, beast or plant, is a
really good thoughtful way to view the world around you.

Two nights ago, we had a crystal clear night here in the city and I realized
I'd not seen stars in many many months. Similarly, while heading back from
my old town the other night, I crested a hill at sunset and beheld a 360
degree sunset, which I'd seen every night for 17 years, and felt really sad.
The things we take for granted, until you lose them...
