You asked Vince but I thougt I would point out a couple of things ;)
I know you mentioned the loose piece. Did you check to see if the cracks on
your pots are soft or hard? I only ask becuase a piece that cracked earlier
could fall out anytime. Even at the end of the firing. You probably already
know to check this but I thought I would mention it anyway.
If they are soft you piece could have been cracked and you did not notice it
even before a bisque, unlikely but possible.
If they are thick pieces as you mention perhaps your bisque is to fast?
