I have finally been able to mix, apply and fire
glazes from Mastering Cone 6 Glazes. The mug
pictured on the Stay at Home Mug Exchange
is glazed in Variegated Slate Blue. I really like the
color and the surface is satin to glossy, which I
happen to like. =20
The Licorice is awesome, as is the Clear Powder
Blue. Alas, the Waterfall Brown (yes I know this
was the ultimate glaze) was mediocre by itself.
I think the kiln did cool too quickly. But on top
of licorice it was beautiful. =20
I am thrilled with my first attempts at cone 6.
Thank you Ron and John.

Sheron -
Thanks for sharing your experience. I just mixed my first test
batches - also using "Mastering Cone 6 Glazes" - and dipped my teest
tiles. I can't wait to fire. Unfortunately, between Easter & some
travel for work, I won't be able to file the kiln until at least
Thursday...

I'm trying Varigated Blue & Spearmint. I decided to stick w/ recipes
based on their semi-matt base for starters.
