At the Appalachian Center for Craft we offer a series of five-day workshops
over an eight-week period in the summer. We have a great list of presenters
this summer, including Clayart members David Hendley and Paul Lewing,
plus.Josh DeWeese, Michael Connely, Vincent Sansone, Juan Granados, Charity
Davis and Peg Malloy.

We are located in Middle Tennessee, 60 miles east of Nashville, a few miles
south of Interstate 40, on a beautiful wilderness tract overlooking Center
Hill Lake. The studios are very spacious, and efficiently air-conditioned
in the summer. We have excellent meals in the dining hall, and comfortable
accommodations in on-site housing.

Please visit http://www.tntech.edu/craftcenter/wkshops/summer/welcome.html
for more information on the summer workshops.

You can find plenty of images and information at my website or the Craft
Center website, addresses listed below.
Best wishes -

I have been reading ceramics Monthly for about 3 years now, and have
taken some local ceramics classes for the past couple of years, and I am
"hooked". I want to attend some hands on workshops this year, but
would like some advice for those that would be very good for someone on
my level. I can pull cylinders, make bowls, and so forth, but nothing
too big yet, and I am definitely not consistent with everything yet. I
have only used glazes that are available at the studios that I have gone
to, and have been at 2 pit firings. I do need a lot more practice, but
much as I try, my full time job prevents that much of the time. I read
Clayart, but much of it is still over my head in terms of where I am at
just now. I have some frequent flyer miles that I can use to attend
workshops but would like some recommendations. I have seen the list for
Mudfire in Decatur, Georgia and will probably attend one there. The ones
I have seen seem to be more lecture than hands on. I would like to go
to at least one more where I will have hands on and some great
instruction and guidance. Any recommendations? You may respond on the
list or off. Thanks. mbutters@qg.com
