"Raku in the Caribbean=B2 Workshop Rescheduled

At Maho Bay Clay Works on the island of St John
=20
The special Raku in the Caribbean Workshop will be held at Maho Bay
Clay Works=B9 studio May 2-8. The instructor, Steven Branfman is the founder
and director of The Potter=B9s Shop and School in Needham, MA. He is the
author of Raku: A Practical Approach and The Potter=B9s Professional Handbook=
.
He has been a full time clay artist and teacher since 1975.

Branfman is a highly acclaimed ceramic artist and workshop presenter known
for his Raku techniques and Maho Bay Clay Works is delighted to bring him t=
o
the Virgin Islands. A gifted teacher, with a generous and warm approach, we
will work together with him in the studio, learn to build raku kilns and
take time to play and enjoy this beautiful island.

The Raku technique, which has evolved from 16th century Japanese tea
ceremony pottery, is well known for its flashy practice of taking glowing
red pots from the kiln and plunging them in leaves, newspapers, and
combustibles to produce colorful metallic glaze effects.

This workshop within a workshop offers a weeklong "hands on" sessio=
n
from May 2-8, as well as a weekend only session from Friday evening through
Sunday, May 6-8. For more information on activities planned, prices, and
special off season workshop accommodation rates, please contact Gail Van de
