Tony,
Work. Why we make the pots that we do. I never think about
referencing my work. I get an idea, I try to use it. I am in the
process of making a teapot, I let it speak to me, and tell me what to
do to make it look better. I look out the window, and see something
that might be of use to me in my work. I store things in my head
that I have seen from workshops or shows, that all of a sudden might
come forward for me to use in a way that is mine.
It is up to me to create my own work, and it might reference where I
live, or the traditions of pottery in Ontario, but probably not. I
hope that it will reflect my own creativity, and the need to make
work that is mine.
