trimming and juror

Thank you all for answering my query. I do understand that each juror has
his own opinion and that I or anyone else has their own pots. Sometimes it
is difficult to remove yourself( being very senstive in these situations)
from your work in order to deal with this rejection(other person's opinion).
I was once told that as an educator, a constructive crit should always be
prefaced by some good points about whatever it is you are discussing. I
don't mind suggestions and in fact criticisms are welcome but I do believe
that in this or any learning environment, it is important to not be cruel
and to be encouraging. It is important to come away from this situation
wanting to do more, not wanting to crawl in a hole. I think the juror needs
to keep this in mind as the first thing to think about.
As for the trimming, I too believe that it is up to the artist but also to
be a forethought and not an afterthought. Thanks for helping me sort
through this situation. I did get one of three of my pots in the show but
totally different choices than last year's juror would have chosen. It is
so subjective that you wonder why you even put yourself in that position if
it doesn't mean anything anyway. Oh well, I guess it's nice to be "out
there".
