a new wedging table, and getting off the floor

Hi All,

No particular point to this post, but seemed vaguely relevant to recent posts
concerning lime popping.

I finished my new wedging table today. Previously I had a 2' x 2' plaster batt
on a 6ft folding table. Not the most pleasant thing to wedge on - moved all over
the place. So the new one is screwed to 3 wall studs and has 4 x 4 front legs,
and a 5/8" plywood shelf acting as an additional brace. Doesn't move. I now
wedge on plywood. I have swappable (not hot swappable - you have to stop
wedging to change :) ) boards for each type of clay I use. Got this idea from
posts on this list. Thanx. I was going to cover them with canvas but went off
the idea. They slot into the frame nice and tight.

So, took it for a test run. One advantage of having cleaned up enough to make
this new table, was finding 50 lbs of clay I'd forgotten about. Very nice. Its
stable, plywood is a nice surface, I haven't got a splinter yet :) Cool. Any my
plaster batts are busy recycling clay.

Of course, I decided to throw bowls. Working on the floor to wall transition.
Mel, there will be questions in May !

Why didn't I make this table 4 years ago ? (Well I was renting then :))

Ciao
D
